About House of Amos
Emergency Food Services
House of Amos' Emergency Food Pantry provides food and toiletry items to families in crisis. Families in crisis situations may receive a distribution of food from House of Amos every 60 days.
The following requirements must be met in order to receive assistance:
- Complete our application form when you come to the office.
- Produce lease agreement showing names of all persons living in your household. If family of 1, a current utility bill is acceptable.

Monday-Thursday 9 am - Noon*
Friday - Closed
Saturday 10 am - Noon*
Sunday - Closed
* We begin serving our last client at 11:45 am
Financial Assistance
Important Information About Financial Assistance
We understand that asking for help can be difficult, and we are here to offer support where we can. Please review the information below before clicking on the application button.
Our Financial Assistance is available for families needing assistance paying rent and utilities. Please read through the following four questions to determine if you are eligible to apply.
- Have you experienced a sudden and significant loss of income affecting your ability to pay rent or utilities?
- Do you live in one of these zip codes? 77036, 77042, 77072, 77082, 77099
- Is there at least one child living in the residence that is 15 years old or younger?
- Do you currently owe $1,000 or less?
If the answer to each of these questions is "yes", please click on the 'Application for Financial Assistance' button to proceed.
If you are unable to answer "yes" to each of these questions, please dial 211 and ask for other resources that may be able to assist you. You may also contact City Services online at www.211texas.org
Basic Assistance
We offer limited support with the following services:
• Access to a computer for online job applications
• Resume writing assistance
• English/Spanish translation
• Help with setting up or using email
• Limited copying services (5 copies)
• Printing the Financial Assistance application from our website
Staff is available Monday through Wednesday, from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM.
Educational Services
We offer English as a Second Language (ESL).
